Gov’t to expand the national road section from the new airport to Siem Reap to four lanes

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport said that the section of National Road No. 6 from a section in front of Angkor-Siem Reap International Airport to Siem Reap City will be expanded to four lanes to facilitate tourist traffic.

The road improvement project was presented by HE Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport, at a press conference at the Government Spokesman’s Unit on October 27.

“The road from the new airport to Siem Reap will be expanded from two to four, and in some sections to six lanes with 16 kilometers long, which is under negotiation for construction,” he said.

The project comes as the construction of the US$880-million Angkor-Siem Reap International Airport has completed more than 44 percent and is scheduled to operate in October next year.
